North Africa from Morocco to Libya, South Spain, South Italy, Sicily.
Cyrenaica and Tripolitania.

Very common in Jabal Akhdar from April to June, dominantly on thisthle flowers. Larvae in dry environnements, the one below was found in dry goat excrements in Hawa Fteah cave.
The variety from Tripolitania (to the left)) is smaller and darker, and less common. It is found in May-June along the coast and in the Jaffarah Plain (Khoms, Al Aziziyah).
