Maerua crassifolia Forskal, 1775
CAPPARACEAE

Tropical & North Africa, Egypt, Sinai, Arabia, Palestine & Pakistan.

Maerua crassifolia is rare in Fazzan and even considered a threatened species in Messak where it is dying, and gradually disappearing. It occurs as isolated individuals in wadis.

Local names: Azar, Sarah.

Not so much attacked by wood borers: only one Buprestidae, Spherobothris (Hoggarobothris) dinauxi (Théry, 1935) has been obtained from its woods and some hatching holes of Bostrychidae were noticed in Tehi-n-Tahaha (Messak).
