Ptychomus politus
Size: 7.4-11.5 mm (Coll JCR).
Host plant: Acacia tortilis.
Life cycle: 1-2 years at least.
Distribution: Sahara, Egypt, Sinai, Palestine.
Cyrenaica (Zavatarri, 1934), new for Fazzan.

Rather variable specie with individual forms approaching the descriptions of Ptychomus aeneus, politus and pseudopolitus. A revision of the genus, might be useful.
Obtained in July-August ex larva from Acacia tortilis wood from Messak Sattafet.
The second most common Buprestid in Messak after Anthaxia congregata.
